Welcome to the Valley of Paradise
Valparaiso, a Spanish word meaning “vale of paradise,” is located in the beautiful Oak Creek Valley. The town first appeared on an 1863 map as the county seat of Calhoun County. Valparaiso was officially incorporated in 1880 in what is now known as Saunders County.
The Village of Valparaiso sits at the intersection of Nebraska Highways 79 and 66 in Southeast Nebraska. Valparaiso is located 20 miles northwest of Lincoln and 50 miles southwest of Omaha.
